Blog Tour & Interview: Our Dark Stars by Audrey Grey & Krystal Wade

Our Dark Stars by Audrey Grey & Krystal Wade
Genre: Young Adult, Science Fiction/Fairy Tale Retelling
Publication: March 6th, 2018

While she sleeps, the whole universe changes.

Princess Talia Starchaser has it all. Wealth. Status. Adoring citizens. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she’s forced to publicly betray her best friend, a companion mock she’s had since birth, setting events into motion that lead to the destruction of the humans, and the princess floating through space, a remnant of a time when humans ruled over droids.

One hundred years later, half-mock captain Will Perrault and his ragtag crew discover a device floating in space. When a very human Talia emerges from its depths, Will suspects she’s the key to buying his way back into the regiment he once commanded against the last remaining rebel humans—and the ruling mock queen’s good graces.

Both Talia and Will would rather get space-tossed than trust one another, but with the queen’s forces chasing them across the galaxy and the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance, they’ll forge the unlikeliest of alliances to survive.

About the Authors

Audrey Grey is an award winning and USA Today bestselling author of several books, including the Moonbeam Children’s Award bronze finalist, SHADOW FALL. She lives in the charming state of Oklahoma with her crew: one husband, two little people, four mischievous dogs, and one poor cat. You can usually find Audrey hiding out in her office from said crew, surrounded by books and sipping kombucha while dreaming up wondrous worlds for her characters to live in.

Krystal Wade is the USA Today bestselling author of six Young Adult Fantasy and creeptastically imagined fairytale books. She can be found in the sluglines outside Washington D.C. every morning, Monday through Friday. With coffee in hand, iPod plugged in, and strangers who sometimes snore, smell, or have incredibly bad gas-sitting next to her, she zones out and thinks of fantastical worlds for you and me to read. How else can she cope with a fifty-mile commute? Good thing she has her husband and three kids to go home to. They keep her sane.

1. Fairytales or Superheroes?
That’s a hard question, because I obviously empathize with all the trials of being a princess, but I feel most comfortable flying in the stars, so I’m going with Superhero.

2. Morning person or night person?
Night person, definitely! You can’t see the stars or the double moons of Palesia during the daytime so . . .

3. Game of Thrones or Star Wars?
Star Wars seems the obvious choice, but I’m going with Game of Thrones. I mean, have you seen Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons???? Plus, I can relate to having my family murdered and my throne stolen.

4. Coffee or tea?
Don’t tell anyone, but coffee’s my jam. Tea is the only beverage served in the royal hall—or befitting a royal, according to my grandmother—so I have to go to the servants’ quarters below to find a good cup.

5. The beach or the mountains?
The beach, for sure! Although I can’t swim and am terrified of water. Sometimes the most beautiful elements are the ones that can kill you.

6. Pants or dress?
awkward silence Did you ask Will the same question? No, then I refuse to answer because the question is silly. It doesn’t matter what I’m wearing when I fly my star cruiser or meet with my advisers.

1. Most important trait in a partner: Strong or beautiful?
Grins Well I like pretty girls, can’t deny that . . .but when it comes down to it, I prefer someone who can challenge me, call me out on my crap. Not that I need much calling out. But, yeah. That’s important.

2. Planet or space?
I’d rather spend my days in space. How is that even a question? There’s such freedom up here, but the stakes are high too. One mistake, one wrong move, and space is an unforgiving host. She keeps you on your toes.

3. Sweet or savory?
Hmm, I’m going with sweet. Once you’ve tried synthetic beef, you’ll never be the same, and that’s about all we can get in space these days.

4. Rock or classical?
Okay, so I listen to a lot of rock when I’m in my captain’s chair, but in my spare time, I love to play the piano. I’m going with classical. Just don’t tell anyone.

5. Humans or robots?
glances around That’s . . .that’s really tough. When I was human, I made a lot of dumb decisions guided by emotions, but now I can see how certain things were lost when I became a mock. I don’t know. Can I get back to you?

6. Speed or finesse?
Man, who have you been talking to? Both have gotten me out of some pretty bad scrapes. Let’s go with speed. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I can finesse any ship in any part of the galaxy out of any situation. But, if I have to pick, hypothetically speaking, being faster than your enemy up here wins every time.
