FLUKES by Nichole Chase Review & Excerpt Tour

About FLUKES:
Meena has a secret guarded closely by her family—a secret as dangerous as the sea and buried just as deep. When court-appointed community-service workers are assigned to Flukes, the family-owned animal sanctuary, everyone is on high alert. It doesn’t help that Meena finds herself attracted to sexy-as-sin Blake Weathering, one of the new workers. If he wasn’t so distracting, she might be able to land Flukes a much-needed cruise-line contract.

Blake Weathering, the first in his family to attend public school, has developed a tough image. Unfortunately, it lands him in trouble. Now banned from his high school graduation ceremony, getting his diploma is dependent upon a community-service gig cleaning up fish crap. No diploma, no trust fund fortune—and no way to escape his overbearing father. The last thing he needs is the distraction of a mysterious girl with teal eyes who pulls at his heartstrings.

When Blake discovers Meena’s secret, they are both thrown into a desperate search for information about her past. Two worlds pull them in opposite directions, and they will have to fight to hold on to all that really matters.

 Excerpt:
His kiss surprised me, but I quickly sank into it. His mouth was like magic, chasing away all my doubts and fears. Without thought I spun to face him, bracketing his legs with my own. I fisted my hands in his hair and kissed him back. With each touch, I felt a fire growing in my stomach. His hands slid down to my hips, pulling me closer to him. When I felt him pressed against me, I couldn’t help the groan that escaped.
“Chaque nuit tu hantes mes rĂªves.” He whispered the words against my mouth. I didn’t know what he’d said, but God, it was sexy.
“What does that mean?” I leaned back while he trailed kisses down my throat.
“You haunt my dreams, Meena. I dream about you every night.” His mouth came back to mine and the rest of my thoughts were lost.

My Review:
I love mermaids and it started for me when I watched the little mermaid moving growing up, which is why I try to read all books about mermaids. A lot of mermaid stories have let me down but this one is good! I liked that Meena the main character knew she was a mermaid and that her parents, who found her on the beach after a storm, knew as well and were nice. I really enjoyed Meena because she is strong and not modest or shy at all. Also I love that this mermaid can telepathically communicate with sea mammals. This led to a cute friendship between Meena and two dolphins. I enjoyed the story line and characters which led to a good conclusion. The only thing I did not like was Blakes' attitude toward women like, he knows when they want him so he'll have them even though the girl says no. I guess he is like that cause of his backstory, but I didn't like his backstory cause it was creepy, gorss and a little sad. It was a little unbelievable after having that attitude toward women Blake all the sudden worships Meena and can't live without her. Blake's bad boy persona and good looks combined with his confidence made up for his backstory and I ended up liking him.On goodreads this book is marked as YA and I would not recommend this book to anyone under 18 cause there is a lot of sexual content. I enjoyed the romance and sexual content, but I wouldn't want those to young exposed to it if they aren't ready. Overall I really enjoyed this read and would recommend to all adults who love, fantasy, romance, MERMAIDS, and new adult books!
